Trip to Hill Ash Care Home
On Thursday 29th November we made a trip to our local care home to visit some of the residents. We were greeted by Christmas music and a beautifully decorated Christmas Tree.
We took some play dough with us and showed the ladies how we rolled it out and cut Christmas shapes. We also took some paper and coloured pencils with us; Pippa drew a picture of one of the ladies and gave it to her as a present. The staff had also put some toys and dolls out for us to play with – so there was lots to do.
Arlan brought his dinosaur book, which was quite a hit with the ladies, he told them about the volcano erupting and that his favourite was the T Rex.
Flo & Pippa enjoyed dressing the dolls and soft toys and Harry built a tower with stacking blocks and made some steps to get to it. He enjoyed talking to the ladies and even had a cuddle form one.
We had a snack of squash, fruit and biscuits while the residents had their cup of tea. This was very exciting as it was brought in on a trolley and there were lots of biscuits!
We finished our morning with a Christmas story called ‘Grumpy Badgers Christmas’ which both the residents and children thoroughly enjoyed.
It was then time to say goodbye, so the children handed out a Christmas chocolate bear to each of the residents to say thank you for having us.
It really was a lovely trip and we’re already planning the next one.
